Meant as a day to commemorate the spirits of those who have passed away, Halloween has taken on a more joyful meaning in recent generations, what with the frightful fun and joyous thrills that have become associated with this day.
To better savor the contemporary delights that Halloween promises to bring, renting horror movies have become a favorite pastime for many people. The scarier the film, the better it would be for the Halloween merrymakers.
Here are ten fabulously frightening films that you could sink your teeth into, no pun intended, starting Allhallows Eve.
1. The Shining. This Jack Nicholson-starrer is hailed as one of the most, if not THE most, frightening film in history. A relocating family and a haunted house, with a possessed father as played by the Oscar Award winner Nicholson have given birth to a modern day classic based on the bestselling novel by the Master of Horror Fiction himself, Stephen King. 5. Night Of The Living Dead. This 60s classic by respected horror director George Romero gave birth to a new genre that was previously unheard of: zombies. 9. 28 Days. What if mans basest instincts are unleashed? It would surely be hell on Earth. In this film, a virus called Rage was released in Europe, and in 28 days, society devolved into barbaric territories and violent wastelands. Skull-O-Meter Rating: 4 skulls!
